SEMANA 13 : DEL PRIMERO AL 5 DE NOVIEMBRE (NOVEMBER 1 TO 5)

 PALABRA DE LA SEMANA: LA PERSISTENCIA- PERSISTENTE  / PERSISTENCE- PERSISTENT

AGENDA DE LA SEMANA
Periods: 1-5:
- We will start a new chapter during this week. This chapter will be about VERB IR (to go) and vocabulary about places. We will learn how to express future events in Spanish but before starting this new topic, we need to review / revise some topics of the current unit.

- There will be  homework ( tarea) on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will follow the same format used during last week.

Lunes (Monday): Explain (in English ) what PERSISTENCE means. Give an example of a situation in the school where we need to be persistent.

Martes (Tuesday) No hay clase/ No class

Miercoles (Wednesday): Go online and find what "Dia de los Muertos" means and how people celebrate this day (at least 5 lines)

Jueves (Thursday):
Graphic Organizer (Teacher will explain this in class) and using the previous graphic organizer, you will write a 10 line-paragraph about the movie we will see in class (the paragrapn in Spanish)

PARA RECORDAR (REMEMBER)
-Dictionary: Please bring one with you

- Tutoring: Wednesdays morning between 8 - 8:45 AM

Period 6:
- We will continue with activities you like to do or you don't like to do.

Semana 12: 25 al 29 de Octubre (Week 12 October 25 to 29) Palabra de la Semana: Caridad

La caridad empieza en casa // Charity begins at home

Agenda:
A. Periodos 1- 5
 We will write essays during this week. (Periodos 1 y 2 have to turn in it as homework on Monday, October 25). The rubric for Spanish Writing was handed to the students last Friday, so the students will follow it through the process of writing. Periods 4 and 5 will be working on this essay on Monday and Tuesday if necessary.
Write a 3 paragraph essay:
- Introduce yourself and your celebrety as a friend.
- Write about
a. nationality
b. description
c. likes and dislikes
d. hobbies
e. favorite color, animal etc.
f. what you do on weekends
g.what food and activities you do to keep you healthy
h. use these verbs: gustar, comer, compartir, vivir, estudiar, beber, hacer ejercicio, leer, practicar deportes, mirar t.v.
h. use adjectives at least 10.
i. Use vocabulary (food- cognates) seen up to now.
Importante:
- Write clearly
- No scratches are allowed
- Underline: blue - verbs, red- adjectives, green- vocabulary
- Useful words to use: y - and, pero - but, tambien- also
- Please SKIP  a line
Periods 1 and 2 will have another essay to do in class.

B. Periods 1-5: Test # 2. Students will use their own "portafolio" and dictionary to take the test. (I want to clear up that students will not share " Portafolios" or dictionaries. This test will be on Wednesday October 27 or Thursday October 28. It depends how much time students need to finish their essays.

C. Tarea (HW): There will be "tarea" everyday this week to be turned in every day:

1. Lunes, el 25 de octubre: Write a  5 line -paragrap about: La pizza: describe it, you can mention ingredients, say if it is good  or bad for our health, when you eat pizza most of the time, who you share pizza with etc.

2. Martes, el 26 de octubre: Write a 5 line paragraph about: ¿Como es tu mejor amiga? / tu mejor amigo (best friend) You can use same tips from the essay (above)

3. Miercoles, el 27 de octubre: Write a 5 line- paragraph about: Tu escuela ( your school) You can describe it, say what you do in school, what you like or don't like about the school, etc.

4. Jueves, el 28 de octubre: Write a 5 line- paragraph about: ¿Como es Bart Simpson?  (the animated character on tv): describe him, talk about what he does or doesn't like etc.

Tarea: Find small pictures from a magazine, newspaper or printed from Internet: 5 pictures of people and 5 pictures of the: Study, run, eat, play, swim, wath tv, sing, use the computer, practice sports (choose just 5)

SEMANA 11: 18 AL 22 DE OCTUBRE / PALABRAS DE LA SEMANA : RESPETO Y DISCIPLINA

AGENDA PARA LA SEMANA 11 (AGENDA FOR WEEK #11)
Periods 1-5
We will start describing people. So we will need a picture of yourself and a picture of a celebrity you admire. This picture can be from a magazine, newspaper or printed from Internet. We will use these two pictures on Thursday October 21. Please bring your Spanish/ English - English/Spanish dictionary.

Important: We will have Test # 2 during the week # 12. So homework will be: Study for this test.

Period 6:
We will start using bilingual dictionaries. Please bring your Spanish/ English - English/Spanish dictionary.


Important: We will have Test # 2 this coming Friday, October 22. So homework will be: Study for this test.

Agenda October 4 to 8
We will start describing people, things, places and food using the adjectives and Verb SER.
Period 6: We will start learning about the weather, and the time.

Period 1 and 2: Hw to be turned in on Tueday, October 5 (w/sheet Hispanic Heritage Homework)
Period 1,2,4 and 5: Hw to be turned in on Friday, October 8 (10 words borrow from Spanish. Choose 5 and write 5 sentences in English) PLEASE DO NOT USE COGNATES.
Period 6: Hw to be turned on Friday, October 8 (Expressions w/sheet)

PROJECTS
Periods 1, 2, 4 and 5 due on October 15 (no before/ no later) Identify countries, capitals and flags (Hall display)
