SEMANA 13 DEL 28 DE MARZO AL 1 PRIMERO DE ABRIL (WEEK 13 MARCH 28 TO APRIL 1ST)

Las Vacaciones de Primavera ya vienen!!! SPRING BREAK IS COMING!!!
Are you looking foward to this break? I am...

Earth Hour 2011 took place last Saturday. I hope you had observed by turning off all lights at 8:30PM. We can think about other ways we can do this on daily basis. What are those ways?

I am very pleased with the results of the quiz about verb TENER for periods 1-5. I would say that 90 %  (or maybe more) of the students got A on this test. FELICITACIONES!!!;-)
My 6th period class did an excellent work last Friday with all the activities (games) we had. You see that we could have fun playing and learning at the same time following instructions. I hope we can continue doing this kind of activities. You all got A in this activity.

UN DIA DE...
Last Thursday and Friday students were making a classwork about the vocabulary of  "La ropa y otros accesorios" They were using old magazines and construction paper provided by the teacher. How many of you brought the requested material? magazines??? scissors? glue??? Remember this counts for the grade of participation. Please don't complain if you get B or less in Participation. You need to turn in this classwork on Monday or Tuesday this week. (After Tuesday students will get 0 zero)
By the way...it is unbelievable that some students haven't turned the paragraph "YO" last Tuesday March 22. I am still waiting for this, of course you will not get a full credit.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Some students are done with this assignment. But some are not!!!  You have had a complete week to do this. The last day to present this oral assignment will be this Wednesday March 30.  You have had the opportunity to do it in class (first 15 minutes), if you don't want to do it in front of the class, you could have come before / during homeroom. Seriously if you cannot say at least 10 sentences in Spanish at this point of the school year (and after taking Spanish last year) about you and your family, you need to reflect on your role as student and maybe consider a change of level for next year.

Hoping you turn in all your assignmets and do your best without excuses (it seems there is always one)  during this week;  have a wonderful spring break!!!

PROJECT 1- 5 PERIOD TASK: PROJECT: FAMILY TREE

Students will complete a family tree project. In order to complete this project, students will need to know the vocabulary for family members and relationships as well as the grammar required to say things about their families. Students can add in other vocabulary if necessary.

OBJECTIVES:

• Practice and use vocabulary about family members.

• Write sentences using the right structure

DESCRIPTION: To set up this project, students will need a piece of construction paper and pictures of family members. If a student wants to use their own family picture, that would be fine. Students can also use pictures from magazine, internet or drawing so students can invent a family instead of describing their actual family members.

Put it together:

1. Have in the family tree a minimum of 10 members. Identify yourself in the family tree

2. Label the pictures to identify the relation with you. For example: Tia Rosa Castillo

3. Write sentences (10) about how you are related to the people on the tree. For example:

Rosa es mi tia. Ella es la hermana de mi papa.

4. Write sentences (10) describing the appearance and/or personality of 10 members of your family tree. For example: Mi tia Rosa es alta y trabajadora.

5. Write sentences (10) about the ages of 10 members of your family tree. For example: Mi tia Rosa tiene 40 años.

6. In total you need to have 30 sentences. You can write sentences in a separate paper.

7. Pictures need to be colorful

8. This project is due on Friday, March 18 2011. I have already seen some projects from some students, good work!!!
We will be working in class on it as well this week.

EVALUATION: This assignment counts as a project grade. See rubric for expectations in the blue paper.
