SEMANA 13: DEL 31 DE OCTUBRE AL 4 DE NOVIEMBRE (WEEK 13: OCTOBER 31 TO NOVEMBER 4)

Me llamo espantapajaros Manolito

Hola, espero que tengan un buen Halloween:

And November is here!!! Three more weeks to our Thanksgiving break!!! Bravo!!! I can't wait for the holidays and you?

It has been a busy week; we have worked on our project, we had make- up quiz, we have learned new irregular verbs and we have learned about a unique celebration in Mexico and in some countries in Central America El dia de los Muertos:

Soy el Senor Huesos

The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray
for and remember friends and family members who have died.
It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it attains the quality
of a National Holiday. The celebration takes place on November 1st
and 2nd. See more information about this celebration on page
"Culture" at the top- right of the blog.

" I think Dia de los muertos is a great holiday because it is important to honor the dead and  do it in such a festive fun way" -MR 6th grade

"I think this holidya is very unique. There are not many countries that have so much respect for something and so little fear for death and have fun while doing it" -MG 6th grade
Here some pics of the students working on their project: Dia de los muertos:

SEMANA 12: DEL 24 AL 28 DE OCTUBRE (FROM OCTOBER 24 TO 28)

Hola a todos...
It is hard to believe we are about to celebrate Halloween. Wow we are moving to the end of October and we are enjoying those orange colors in trees. " El otoño es una estación de cambios de colores y la caída de hojas hace este tiempo del año muy especial."

ESTAMOS LISTOS PARA CELEBRAR EL DIA DE HALLOWEEN!

*** Dear Parents and Guardians:
We are committed to keeping you informed about your child’s education. Please remember that you have access to academic performance information for your child through the Parent Portal.

Students have enjoyed the movie CASI CASI very much last week. Also we have learned some new expressions and we have listed a number of cognates. Here some students' comments about the movie we saw last week:

- "The movie was very entertaining. I loved it. I think Emilio did the right thing by letting Jacquelynn win. It wasn't right by law but right in his heart. The moral is follow your heart." MR- 6th grade

- "I think that this movie was very good. I probably wouldn't have done what he did, and I liked it. I think that his friends were really good because they went through all that trouble with him just because he wanted to impress a girl." Ch. 6th grade

- "I think it was a very good comedy.  To me I think they are a nice group of friends. Yes, I liked it. The moral fo the story is to try your best even if it's hard." - Mikal G. 6ht

SEMANA 10 : DEL 10 AL 14 DE OCTUBRE (FROM OCTOBER 10TH TO 14TH)

Estudiantes:
*** Students: Please bring the permission slip signed by your parents to see the movie

Can you believe it? The first quarter officially ended last week. Grades were due last Friday. Most of you must be very proud of what you have accomplished so far.  Here some students' reflections on their work of the first unit:

" I think that in this chapter 1 the hardest thing was memorizing the vocabulary. I struggle until we did page 65 and I did a lot better. The easiest thing was the poem. I had a lot of fun doing that. I learned a lot about my house, poetry, vocabulary and Hispanic Heritage" - Cameron F. (1st Period-7th grade)
" I think I did great because I understood everything in this chapter. All of the topics were easy for me because this is my native language. There were no hard topics for me because I payed close atention. I learned how to spell numbers, seasons, body parts, and other words we talked about.
I want to improve  in how putting the "tildes" on words. - Francelly R. (6th period - 6th grade)

"I think I did very good considering I got a 100% on the test. The easy topics for me were the numbers and the letters. The most difficult topic for me was answering the questions after reading the paragraphs. I learned a lot more things in just this unit than my whole 5th grade year last year. I think I need to improve most on is understanding the paragraphs and interpreting them to my thought" - Chayton (5th Period - 6th grade)
Last week we also had our first unit test and the project was due on October 7th. I am sure you have turned it in.We also have started the second unit, and it seems as exciting as the first one.
