FIN DEL AñO ESCOLAR 2011 - 2012
As the end of school year is approaching, students and teachers are on the countdown to the last day of the school which will be on Tuesday, May 22. I know most of my students are looking forward to the summer free of homework, lessons, and projects. But before celebrating the conclusion of this year I would like you to think about the achievements you have accomplished and how happy you will be walking out this coming May 22 at 3:30 PM.
I know these last few weeks of school are intense and the pressure for teachers to keep you learning and focusing on the last assigments is really a challenge. I hope my students will make the right choice during this time left before the last day. There is still work to do and some of you need to make up some low grades.

*NO MAS TAREA / NO MORE HW: YOUR LAST HW ASSIGMENT IS DUE (WAS DUE)ON MONDAY, MAY 7
AND YOU KNOW THIS IS A CHANCE TO PULL YOUR AVERAGE GRADE UP SINCE IT IS A MAKE-UP WORK FOR ONE OF YOUR LOWEST GRADE + HW # 18.
** EL 5 DE MAYO: We have learned a lot about the celebration of el 5 de mayo. The documental we are watching from The History Channel is very interesting. I am so glad that most of my students have showed interest on the actual meaning of this day. I will be grading the activity about this celebration on Tuesday May 8th. This is one more chance to pull your grade up!!! HURRAY!!!
*** FINAL EXAMS: As we have it scheduled some weeks ago the final exams will be on these dates:
7th & 8th grades: Two- day exam on Friday May 11 and Monday May 14.
6th grade: it will be on Wednesday May 9 if we finish the topic about verb IR, -er, -ir and vocabulary about food. We have chosen this date due to the trip to Virginia for some six graders. Otherwise we will be having it next week after the students come back. ***LAST MINUTE CHANGE: STUDENTS AND TEACHER HAVE AGREED TO HAVE 6TH GRADE FINAL EXAM NEXT WEEK ON TUESDAY MAY 15. WE HAVEN'T FINISHED SOME TOPICS AND WE NEED TO PRACTICE A LITTLE MORE

**** PORTAFOLIOS: No more portafolios checking. The last one was due last week. You should have turned it in last Friday, May 4th. I hope you did so. I also hope you have learned a lot keeping this Portafolio. It has been evidence of your work, it exhibits your effort, progress, and achievement in Spanish. And you knew from the beginning you will be able to use it for the finals -Your own Portafolio.
***** PICTIONARIO 7 ONLY FOR 6TH GRADERS: Students from 6th grade will be having one more pictionario. This will be about food and verbs Tener / Ir a.

A Mexican-American teenage girl is ready to celebrate her 15th birthday - the traditional 'quinceanera' - which in Mexican culture symbolizes adulthood. When her father suddenly cancels the gala celebration she is angry at his decision but her feelings change when she discovers an important secret he's been hiding. We will be watching our last movie where students will have an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the Hispanic culture as well as the nature of the language by making comparisons between Hispanic culture and their own.This will be during the last two days of the school.

****CLUB DE ESPANOL /COUGAR SPANISH CLUB: We had our last Spanish club meeting last Friday May 4th. We talked about the celebration of the 5 de mayo. We had good food as well: Tacos & burritos. I think it was a great way to end our Spanish club for this year. I will miss our 8th grade members: Melani and Ana. Gracias por ser parte de nuestro club
